See what our vision therapy patients are saying:

My daughter’s recall has improved significantly, which was shown by the big jump in her grades at school. Her report card for Term 1 is all A's and high B's. She's thrilled and it represents an improvement over the midterm report sent out in the fall. I feel that the vision therapy has played a key role in helping her feel more confident in school. Many thanks for all you have done to help her!

I reached a point after multiple concussions that I gave up and thought my quality of life would be different forever, and I would just have to adjust to what I couldn’t do. I didn’t realize how many issues I was having was rooted in my vision. It helped me resolve issues I didn’t even know existed. Anyone who has suffered multiple brain injuries and can’t focus like they used to or still have some lingering light sensitivity; vision therapy helps immensely!

Jordanna has more awareness of the space around her. Before vision therapy, she was bumping into people and furniture and now I notice this happens less. She does not knock over items on the dinner table the way she used to. She is also more willing to be on her stomach. She has the confidence to go on a balance board and I notice at home that she will climb furniture and sit on top of the couch or balance herself on the arm of the recliner. She also likes to walk on the curb of the sidewalk.

What is Vision Therapy?

Vision therapy is a non-surgical, personalized program of activities designed to improve visual skills and visual information processing abilities. Unlike glasses or contact lenses, which correct eyesight, vision therapy targets how the brain and eyes work together, enhancing abilities such as eye teaming, eye focusing, eye tracking, and eye-hand coordination. Visual information processing refers to the brain’s ability to interpret visual information and is a critical part of vision.

Who does Vision Therapy benefit?

Approximately 80% of learning is done visually, which speaks to the importance of a strong visual system in academic and work performance. Vision therapy is a customized treatment program for a number of functional vision concerns, such as:

  • Amblyopia (lazy eye)

  • Binocular dysfunction (eye teaming issue)

  • Accommodative dysfunction (eye focusing issue)

  • Oculomotor dysfunction (eye movement issue)

Binocular Vision problem?

How do I start Vision Therapy?

1

Start with a Comprehensive Eye Exam

This is to ensure there are no other underlying eye health concerns impacting your vision.
This can be completed with your routine optometrist, and a subsequent referral can be
made to our clinic.

2

Book a Functional Visual Skills exam

This is to thoroughly detect for any inefficiencies in your visual system. Based on the
results, if indicated, you may be scheduled for a secondary Visual Information Processing
exam to evaluate processing functions such as visual discrimination, visual memory, and
visual motor integration.

3

Schedule Vision Therapy

Our doctors will plan a vision therapy curriculum catered to your visual needs. One-on-one
45-minute vision therapy sessions will take place on a weekly basis, with progress
evaluations taking place periodically. Your performance will be monitored closely, and
exercises are made more difficult to encourage further improvement over time.
